Imagine entering a restaurant or a movie theater and witnessing a puzzled expression on your date's face. Wouldn't it lower your self-esteem? Of course, it would…and probably to a large extent too!
When on a date, everybody wants to look their best. People want to be complimented, to be noticed, and more than that, to be remembered. And that, my friends, can only be possible if you dress right! Wearing flashy, body-hugging clothes isn't always the way to go. Similarly, donning baggy, super comfy clothes is a big no-no too. So, what exactly should you wear on a date night?
As per experts, knowing what not to wear makes the job much easier than asking yourself what to wear on your special day. So here's a list of things you should avoid on our date night.
#1 - Say No to Tight-Fitted Clothes
Flaunting your curves isn't wrong, but to an extent, you shouldn’t wear what you don't feel comfortable in. Moreover, it sends the wrong message to your date, as if you're too hard or maybe even struggling with low self-esteem issues. Therefore, when going out with your special one, wear something comfortable that suits your body and enhances your beauty, and not the other way round.
#2 - Wearing Thigh-High Boots
We know it's hard to put away those gorgeous stompers, especially when you feel absolutely at home in them. But remember, you don't want to give out that easy-going or “available” message to the other person, do you? Josie May, a love and dating expert, says thigh-high boots go well when you're hanging out with your girlfriends, but on a date night, they give off all the wrong vibes.
#3 - Avoid Selecting Overly Loose Clothes
Who doesn't love oversized T-shirts or loose pants! Most of us do, right? But when going out with someone, clothes like these display that either you're not interested in the other person or looking good yourself. If you really want to look sober or likable, dating expert Antonia Hall says you should wear clothes that bring out the real you.
#4 - Say No to Slogan Imprinted Clothes
Wearing clothes with silly or corny slogans might seem cool to you, but they might be disliked by the other person. It might also happen that your date gets offended with the message you find funny, or worse, things could go wrong between the two of you due to an unfortunate wardrobe choice. Why take chances and ruin the chemistry with your probable Mr. or Ms. Right?
#5 - Don't Wear Clothes with Brand Names
Unless you want to look like a walking billboard, avoid wearing clothes with brand names on them. Generally, people on a date aren't interested in the brands you prefer. Instead, they're more eager to know you as a person and what you bring to the table.
Wrapping it up
Now that you know what not to wear on a date, we guess it would be easy to select outfits the next time you're standing confused in front of your wardrobe. If you still find it difficult, go with the first thing that comes to your mind. Hopefully, that will work well for you (fingers crossed!).
